The Differential

poetry

My love for you is a simple fraction
You are the one over me.
I increase my part with each fond action
And the sum just seems to decrease.

Love is but two under some one,
Two together being one love.
But though my love to the infinite runs,
It’s nothing with you, just one, up above.

I could never figure out whether this poem should be titled "The Differential" or "The Integral." In honor of Valentine's Day, I'll pretend its title is the latter.
